The Old Woodyard – West Cumbria

The Old Wood Yard was a project where we tried to implement as many new techniques as we possibly could with the agreement of the architect, building control, and client.

We used a 75% recycled block system for the main construction. Reclaimed roofing slate from a demolition project in Bolton.

Recycled Lake District Slate for the front of the property. Ethically sourced timber cladding and front glazed gable.

Sun tunnels throughout the first floor to harness natural light and a rainwater harvesting system that recycles rainwater to flush toilets and run the washing machine and outside taps.

A really green home on the fringe of the Lake District.
