Capability, reliability and a proven track record. From structural masonry and groundworks to fire protection and specialist finishes – delivered across commercial, industrial and public sector projects throughout the UK.
We run our own structured training programme designed to develop the skills our projects demand. Joining William King Construction means joining a business that is invested in your professional growth, not just your output.
Our approach to training reflects our broader commitment to quality. The same rigour we apply to our projects, we apply to developing our people.
When you work with William King Construction, you are working with a team that has been trained to our own exacting standards. That means consistent quality, reliable workmanship and people who understand not just how to do the job, but why doing it properly matters.
Our investment in training means our operatives stay current with the latest techniques, materials and compliance requirements. Whether that is passive fire protection standards, heritage masonry methods or modern render systems, you can trust that the person on site knows their trade inside out.
For clients operating in regulated environments, this is particularly important. Our teams working on nuclear and safety-critical sites are trained, security cleared and fully compliant before they ever set foot on site. That preparation protects your project, your programme and your reputation.
Our civil and commercial capability spans four core service areas – each staffed by experienced, in-house specialists with a track record on major UK projects.
Structural and facing masonry for commercial, industrial and public sector clients. Full packages or specialist brickwork subcontracting - including complex, high-profile nuclear environments.
Dry lining, traditional lime and silicone render systems; all aspects of carpentry and joinery; paving, concrete and landscaping - from design to delivery, in-house.
Full painting and decorating capability across commercial and industrial environments. Our team has delivered floor and wall covering systems on multiple high-profile Sellafield contracts.
Experienced fire stopping operatives delivering life-critical compartmentation works to the highest standards. ICL and LTQR records strictly maintained. FIRAS accreditation in progress.
Our masonry team has delivered some of the most technically demanding brickwork packages in the UK. A standout example is our full masonry package on the Bepps+Diff project at Sellafield – one of Europe’s most complex operational environments.
The project demanded strict quality control, precise programme management and the ability to operate safely and compliantly within a live nuclear licensed site. We delivered on programme in 2019 and have since secured further work on the same project – a testament to the quality of our delivery and our client relationships.
That same standard – careful planning, tight quality control, experienced tradespeople – is applied to every masonry package we take on, regardless of scale or setting.

Choosing the right flooring for a commercial space is more important than it might seem. The wrong choice costs money twice, once when it is installed and again when it fails to perform. At William King Construction, we bring the same care and attention to our flooring work that we apply across every other service we offer.
We have experience installing a wide range of commercial flooring across retail, office, industrial and specialist environments. Whether the requirement is durable safety flooring for high-traffic areas, practical solutions for kitchens and wet rooms, or quality finishes for customer-facing spaces, our team delivers to a consistently high standard.
One notable area of experience is our work across the Sellafield site, where we retrofitted safety flooring to showers, kitchens and general walkways across the site for Mitie in support of their maintenance contract. Working within a live, safety-critical nuclear environment requires a particular level of organisation, compliance and professionalism, and it is something our team is very well practised in.
We have delivered flooring contracts for major organisations across Cumbria and further afield, and we are always happy to discuss requirements at any scale.

William King Construction have been contracted for the blockwork on a major infrastructure project, through their approach to collaborative working, safe working practices, innovation in delivery and exceptional quality they have seen their scope grow exponentially. This growth has not been to the detriment of safe working practices, quality or collaboration but has only further secrued their place as a key member of the supply chain. Their collaborative approach has also seen William King utilised in the assistance of onboarding new supply chain in a heavy regulated environment and in doing so lead the way in “setting the standards”. The core approach to the works is centralised around exceptional quality, safe working practices and collaboration and this is evident through every level of the business from Directors through to labourers.
Senior Project Manager - SRP Project
William King Construction have set the standard for what a high-performing, values-driven SME should deliver on major programmes. From a business perspective, they consistently demonstrate the right people doing the right things, and they punch well above their weight. Their commitment to developing local talent, creating opportunities, and investing back into the region is outstanding, often surpassing what is delivered by organisations many times their size. What truly sets them apart is their collaborative approach – working openly with a strong supply chain network to add genuine value to project delivery, rather than chasing revenue for its own sake. The jewel in the crown, however, is their delivery performance: the attitude of their people, their delivery standards, and a safety culture that is second to none, fully comparable with any contractor on the programme, not just within the SME community but across the board.
